BMW New Six (E3) 3.0 S 1972 1 Owner & 24,000 Miles from New (TIME WARP)

SOLD

BMW New Six 3.0 S (E3)

1 Owner & 24,000 Miles from New (TIME WARP)

A Rare Opportunity to Acquire an Exceptionally Original, Unmolested & Very Desirable 1972 BMW New Six 3.0 S

Just 24,000 miles from new. Supplied new by Gwynedd Motors Ltd Red Garage, Abergele Road, Old Colwyn on 25th September 1972.

When this vehicle was new it was considered to be a very luxury vehicle with very few ever seen on the roads in the Uk. This vehicle new was more money than a Jaguar E-Type V12, it did 127 mph, and was clearly well ahead of it's time. With the silky smooth BMW 3.0 straight 6.

The vehicle comes complete with its original owners manual, workshop manual, BMW book pack, Service Book and much more. The vehicle was first PDI 26/08/1972 with 336 miles. It's first inspection and service was 01/11/1972 at 1198 miles. 20/05/1974 at 9766 miles. It was also done at BMW Distributors Brentford Motors Middlesex. 17/02/1976 at 21,137 miles. The vehicle was later sparingly used and garaged. It was taken out on occasions. It was kept on the road and mot'd until 10 years ago, when due to ill health the owner could no longer take it out. When we took custody of the vehicle we inspected everything. It was still running however required recommissioning to the clutch and brakes.

We fitted a new three piece clutch and slave cylinder, rebuilt the brake callipers and fitted new brake pads. The vehicle has benefited from new good quality tyres. As the old Michelin tyres had some cracking. The engine, gearbox and rear axle have been fully serviced. Including new oils, spark plugs, point, cap and rotor arm. The vehicle does have genuine BMW spare parts included in the sale, which came with the vehicle. The original steering wheel is also in the back. However we are unsure why it was removed as it is in excellent condition. The steering wheel that is currently fitted does look much more attractive with the BMW logo embossed in the centre.

Unique in such original condition and we think this is one of the lowest mileage and lowest owner best original un-restored 1972 example available.

Retaining all of its original panels and much of its original paint.

A very rare find indeed and one unlikely ever to be repeated - truly remarkable!

To find an unmolested example has become very hard, but to find one that has had just one owner, only covered twenty-four thousand miles, retains all of its original panels, its original chassis, engine, gearbox, interior and even all of its original factory paint finish well that's unheard of..............

BODYWORK

When we acquired STF 800L with the exception of a light crease to the offside front wing and a few very minor scratches there was no damage on the vehicle.

The body and paint finish is 100% original, and way above the average 47 year old BMW. However STF 800L is not your average classic car, it is extraordinary.

It has benefited from a light polish and wax on all panels.

The wheels are finished in satin silver, which is factory correct for the vehicle.

The vehicle has a hard sunroof this is as it left left the factory 47 years ago this is how it remains on this vehicle.

The bulkhead is exceptionally solid and original, in fact as good as we have ever seen.

The underside has not been covered in under seal but preserved in great condition as this vehicle has always been garaged. No welding is required anywhere on this vehicle and it is ready to go.

The underside of the bonnet also shows original overspray and the support braces retain their original black finish.

The sunroof is in excellent condition and has no dents or scratches and is still in it's original paint, this is the only part on the vehicle they we would say might require paintwork, very minor however as the vehicle is so original we did not want to touch it and want to leave the decision to the new owner.

The vehicle still retains all it’s original headlights, lenses for indicators, side lights and brake lights which is nice to see as these items are now obsolete.

INTERIOR

Exemplary - by far the best original BMW New Six (E3) 3.0 S

The original factory fitted seats are in excellent condition, the back look as though they have never been back in.

Door cards to the front doors are original factory items and are in excellent condition as are the rears. Sun visors that are perfect. It still retains all it's original glass in the windscreen, doors and rear screen.

Unique in such original condition and we think this is one of the lowest mileage best original un-restored 1972 examples available. Retaining all of its original panels and much of its original paint.

A very rare find indeed and one unlikely ever to be repeated - truly remarkable!

The dash is unmarked with no cracks or sun damage.

Factory fitted Blaupunkt Radio and speakers and the rest of the dashboard had been left unmolested. All windows open, all the window channels are good and because the vehicle has been kept under cover not rusted away as so often is the case.

The rear boot compartment contains the original BMW stamped tools.

The load area is exceptionally clean and doesn't show any sights of heavy use.

UNDER THE BONNET

One of the best original engine bays we have seen, extremely clean with original stickers still in place.
Original paint to engine block.

ON THE ROAD

The factory fitted engine busts into life on the turn of the key. It is apparent that this is a vehicle that has been maintained and covered low mileage it runs as quiet and smooth as any BMW 3.0 6 cylinder engine.

A joy to drive and such fun, the vehicle will be supplied with 12-months MOT with no advisories. The gears change up and down as they should it has a very quiet gearbox which is a good sign of its light use over the years.

STF 800L is an exception with no drips of oil to speak of even after standing for days in the same place.

The steering is as it should be and the vehicle doesn't wonder on the road, all suspension bushes are also good.

SUMMARY

STF 800L is an unmolested and original vehicle in immaculate original condition. All the numbers match - the vin number on the plates are the same as on the log book registration document and that stamped on the chassis itself. The engine number also matches that recorded on the logbook.

This is one of the best low mileage and original untouched E3's we have ever had the opportunity to own.

This vehicle has obviously been cared for and cherished by its previous owners.

It is very solid example that requires no work and is ready to use and enjoy.

If you are an investor you will already known the growing importance of original un-messed with condition for classic cars. If you are an enthusiast then you will not be disappointed with this vehicle as it is perfect in almost ever detail and is exactly as it left the factory 47 years ago.

This is a very honest 47 year-old Classic.

What you see is what you get. STF 800L retains much of its original paint finish - albeit with a few aged dings, scratches and marks. Please therefore do not expect absolutely pristine. However you will have to go a long way to find a better vehicle.

If you have been looking for the very best of the best when it comes to original condition un-restored then this is the right vehicle for you.

VALUE

Low mileage, history, condition, and originality will contribute greatly to the value of any classic. Anybody can restore a classic vehicle to a certain standard however you can't make anymore-original low mileage vehicles and so for that reason these vehicles are becoming increasingly harder to find and so any opportunity to buy one shouldn't be missed.
