Fiat Cinquecento Sporting 1998 1 Owner & Only 4,300 Miles From New

Rare opportunity to acquire a collectors quality Fiat Cinquecento Sporting in the most desirable colour combination.

We believe this to be the lowest mileage vehicle in existence. Still with the original Arnold Clark supplying dealer sticker on the rear window. The vehicle was registered to the main dealer when new on 29th May 1998 then it was sold to it's first and only owner on 23rd June 1998.

Only 4,300 Miles from new this vehicle is in remarkable condition for it's age. It will come with a full 12 months mot and be supplied fully serviced ready to use and enjoy. This is a genuine sporting model, the vehicle also has central locking, a sunroof and electric windows.

The Fiat Cinquecento is a city car, launched by Fiat in December 1991, to replace the Fiat 126. It was the first Fiat model to be solely manufactured in the Fiat Auto Poland plant in Tychy, Poland, which had been sold to Fiat by the Polish state, and where production of the Polish variant of the Fiat 126, the Polski Fiat 126p, continued until the following year.

The right hand drive version for the British market was not launched until June 1993, over 18 months after its original release. At the time it was one of the few city cars sold there.

In 1994, Fiat introduced the Cinquecento Sporting, featuring the 1108 cc SOHC FIRE 54 PS (40 kW; 53 hp) engine from the entry level Punto of the same era, mated to a close ratio gearbox. Other additions were a drop in standard ride height, front anti roll bar, 13" alloy wheels, plus colour coded bumpers and mirrors. The interior saw a tachometer added, along with sports seats, red seatbelts and a leather steering wheel and gear knob.

It is the Sporting model which gave birth to a rallying trophy and a Group A Kit-Car version.

The Sporting's extra £536 on top of the price of the next Cinquecento down the hierarchy buys some fairly fundamental improvements beyond the obvious visual enhancements.

The result is a car far removed from an ordinary Cinquecento. Seldom does so little money buy such a huge transformation. The red seatbelts, ample instrumentation and stripey, sportily-bolstered seats hint that this is more than a mere shopping trolley.

Fiat Cinquecento Sporting, cost £6,195 when new.

Engine, 1108cc, four cylinders, 54bhp at 5500rpm. Five-speed gearbox, front-wheel drive. Top speed 94mph, 0-60mph in 13.9 seconds, Fuel consumption 40-45mpg.

Production of the Cinquecento ended in 1998, when it was replaced by the Seicento.

There were once 11,000 Sportings on the road according to howmanyleft.co.uk. Today those numbers have plummeted to only 130. So if you are looking for an original Cinquecento in excellent condition, this may be the one.

The top speed of the 1.1-litre Sporting is 93mph.
