1957 Model.
This vehicle has been subject to a full chassis up rebuild. Including all the running gear overhauled.
New autosparks wiring loom. New exmoor trim seats, the vehicle has had a sympathetic restoration and looks really well.
Imported from Australia in 2018, so the chassis and bulkhead is rust free. Now fully registered in the Uk.
Very straight and original example. The vehicle has been for most of its life in Australia and so is in immaculate rust free condition, with no welding to the chassis or bulkhead.
This included a major brake system overhauled, new shoes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, brake pipes, new bushes to the chassis and springs, reconditioned fuel system, new prop-shafts, recored original radiator, replaced swivels, seals, bearings, new dynamo, new battery. Removed the sump, cleaned replaced gasket, new spark plugs, oil filter.
The engine runs very well and is apparent the vehicle has not covered many miles. So the vehicle has had a through recommissioning. Thousands of pounds have been spent on this vehicle, to ensure original parts have been used. The bodywork is all original and you can see from the pictures its evenly worn in the way that only steady use over a long period can do.
The Land Rover is in one of the most classic colour combinations light grey with matching body colour wheels and truck cab it looks fantastic and is correct to the vehicle.
To find an unmolested example has become very hard, but to find one that is in such straight condition and only covered a low mileage, retains all of its original panels, its original chassis, engine, gearbox is becoming very hard. The bodywork is very good and all the panels are straight with the exception of a very few dents and scraps. Which adds to the character of the vehicle. The interior has benefited from new blue seats, which finish it off well.
The chassis is very good and hasn't even had a rear crossmember, every nut and bolt came apart so easily, this is due to the climate the vehicle has been in and the chassis is in excellent condition. The rear body is original and was a common conversion in Australia.
One of the best original engine bays we have seen on a Series 1, extremely clean with original stickers still in place. The petrol engine fires up and drives very well there is no smoke, it idles sweetly and has plenty of power. The engine has been fully serviced by ourselves. It is apparent that this is a vehicle that has been maintained and covered low mileage it runs as quiet and smooth as any Series Land Rover that we have ever had. It really is a credit to the previous owners work and maintenance over the years that the vehicle is still present in the such great usable condition.
A joy to drive and such fun, the vehicle will be supplied with a full 12 month mot. Four wheel drive and low range engage, as they should. The gears change up and down as they should it has a very quiet gearbox which is a good sign of it's light use over the years.
It will be supplied fully serviced including engine, oil filter, main gearbox, transfer box, overdrive, diffs and the swivels. The vehicle will also be registered on a Uk number plate with a V5C document.
Almost all Series Land Rovers we have had drip a little oil, this is an exception though no drips of oil to speak of even after standing for days in the same place. The steering is as it should be and the vehicle doesn't wonder on the road like some series vehicles do. This is a very honest Series Land Rover. You will have to go a long way to find a better vehicle. Anything on this Land Rover that required attention has been done it is now faultless.
