Land Rover Series 1 80" 1953 Model Year Restoration

Land Rover Series 1 80" 1953 Model Year Restoration

First Registered 6th February 1952. This is a numbers matching vehicle with the original 2000cc engine. The vehicle comes complete with it's original number plate 5 digit number plate, available on request.

This is the 1879th home market RHD 80" built in 1953 model year production. The vehicle is complete with its original buff logbook. Originally supplied new to John Laing & Son Ltd, Hertfordshire. The vehicle didn't travel far until it ended up in Bedfordshire, then went to Bournemouth, Stevenage and now North Wales so this is a very well travelled Series 1. There are many invoices in the file dating back to the 1990's.

The history of the vehicle and owners is known as far back as day one, which is not often the case when a vehicle is 67 years old.

The vehicle was subject to a full restoration, the original engine, chassis and bulkhead, new canvas, seats, replacement panels where necessary. The restoration has been done throughly trying to ensure as many original parts as possible have been retained.

The rear tub unlike most Land Rovers is remarkably straight in the back and doesn't show any signs of hard use and can be fitted with rear bench seats should the buyer wish.

Most original components have been reconditioned. When some parts were found to be beyond repair, original Land Rover new-old stock components were used.

The engine bay has been extremely well detailed and finished to the highest of standards. The restoration includes the original 2000cc engine that is the correct matching number to the car.

The vehicle has recently been serviced and is now ready to use and enjoy this Summer.

The engine busts into life on the turn of the key. It always starts first time and is a great runner. The vehicle really does pull very well and is a joy to drive.

With the canvas sides rolled up and the door tops off this vehicle really does draw some attention.

The vehicle has a 12 month MOT with no advisories. It has a selectable four wheel drive gearbox which is correct for the age of the vehicle, the door tops, one piece wings, no side lights in the bulkhead make this example very period correct.

The gears change up and down as they should the main box was checked over by a specialist and necessary parts replaced.

Almost all Series Land Rovers we have had drip a little oil, some quite a lot, this is the exception though no drips of oil to speak of even after standing for days in the same place.

This is an fantastic example of a Series 1 restoration. All the numbers match - the chassis numbers on the plates are the same as on the log book registration document and that stamped on the chassis itself.

This is one of the best value for money 1953 80" we have ever had the opportunity to own. This Land Rover has obviously been cared for and cherished by its previous owners. It is a fantastic example that requires no work and is ready to use and enjoy. No expense has been spared on the restoration and so the new owner can benefit from many years of use.

If you are an investor then you will already know how these vehicles have appreciated over the last 5 years some doubling in value.

This a very honest 67 year old Series Land Rover. What you see is what you get it looks and drives exactly as it should. You will have to go a long way to find a better vehicle.

All in all, a lovely example of a 1953 Land Rover and I think it is really good value for money.
