Land Rover Series 2 1958 Early Example with PTO Nut & Bolt Restoration

We are delighted to offer this lovely example of a Series 2. Our very own in house nut and bolt restoration, which has taken over 9 months to complete. This is a very rare 1418 model, which is a 1958 model with the original power take off still with the vehicle.

The vehicle has been rebuilt to original specification and a vast majority of original parts were reused and new old stock parts where sourced where required. The restoration includes a new galvanised chassis which has been painted satin black so it looks just how it would of left the factory 62 years ago.

The vehicle was then first registered for road use 1st October 1958.

The vehicle is in by far one of the best colour combination mid welsh grey with contrasting limestone wheels, the vehicle would have originally had body colour wheels but we preferred them like this. A new Sand canvas.

Bulkhead was refurbished with new pressed footwells and pillars. New galvanised Richards chassis. Gearbox fully refurbished. Engine rebuilt by Searles engineers at Soham the block and head have been chemically cleaned and pressure tested. New valves and seats so the vehicle can now run on unleaded, the block was rebored to + 20 thou. Crank reground, Mains - 10 thou and the big ends polished to standard.

Exmoor Trim elephant hide seats front and rear. New autosparks wiring loom, New swivels, suspension, steering rods, track rod ends, steering box rebuilt and a new steering relay.

Brakes completely overhauled, axles fully rebuilt. Original Serck radiator has been restored with a new core. New lights fitted all round. There is so much more to list.

The vehicle is in immaculate condition and drives very well. The vehicle has always been dry stored and has travelled very few dry miles since the restoration was completed.

The bodywork on this example is immaculate and all the panels are straight with no dents or scraps. It has been professionally painted in our own on site bodyshop. The cappings and windscreen have been removed and re galvanised all the correct rivets have been used during the restoration showing the attention to detail.

All windows open, all the window channels are good since the vehicle has had a fully restoration and everything is new.

The load area is exceptionally clean and doesn't show any sights of heavy use and is presented with a rubber mat.

The vehicle has one of the best engine bays we have seen on a Series 2, extremely clean. The head has been refurbished and now benefits from harden valves and so you no longer need to worry about putting in lead additive. The block has also been refurbished and repainted in the correct Duck Egg Blue.

The engine busts into life at the turn of the key. It is apparent that this is a vehicle that has been maintained and covered low mileage it runs as quiet and smooth as any Series Land Rover that we have ever had.

A joy to drive and such fun, the vehicle will have a full 12-month MOT from the day of sale. Four wheel drive and low range engage, as they should. The gears change up and down as they should it has a very quiet gearbox which is a good sign of it's light use over the years. This vehicle will be supplied fully serviced including engine, filter, main gearbox, transfer box, overdrive, diffs and swivels. Also in this case the power take off unit.

The steering is as it should be and the vehicle doesn't wonder on the road like some series vehicles do. All the tyres have been replaced and are in very good condition with the correct Avon Traction Mileage Tyres.

The vehicle is as clean underneath as on top any inspection is welcome. The restoration is documented with lots of pictures detailing the work carried out, please ask for a copy.
