Land Rover Series 2 1960 Galvanised Chassis

On offer is a nice honest example first registered 11th October 1960.

The bodywork on MVK is very straight given the vehicles age. The vehicle has previously benefited from a sympathetic respray, please do not expect the vehicle to be absolutely perfect.

The interior has benefited from new front seats and matching rear bench seats. Fitted with front mats the footwells have been professionally replaced and so there is no concern for future work.

The load area is clean however it does have scratches due to the type of use the vehicle has had there is no holes or corrosion under the mat.

The bulkhead is exceptionally solid and original and requires no work. The benefit of a galvanised chassis means there is many years of trouble free use without worrying about repairs or welding.

The previous owner enjoyed the car so much that he decided to incorporate a 200 Tdi engine into the vehicle which makes modern day use much more bearable particularly in traffic and on motorways. The upgrades are all very substantial and have been incorporated into the vehicle very well. Making this very practical and giving you the best of both worlds. The vehicle also has the later style Series 2a wiper motor which is more reliable and again a understandable upgrade.

The overall appearance of the vehicle looks like a standard Series 2 until you see it overtaking you in the fast lane.

A joy to drive and such fun, the vehicle will be supplied with a full 12-month MOT with no advisories. Four wheel drive and low range engage, as they should. The gears change up and down as they should it has a very quiet gearbox which is a good sign of its light use and good maintenance over the years.

Almost all Series Land Rovers we have had drip a little oil, some quite a lot, MVK is the exception though no drips of oil to speak of even after standing for days in the same place. The steering is as it should be and the vehicle doesn't wonder on the road like some series vehicles do. All the tyres are in good condition.

This is a very honest 58-year-old Series Land Rover. You will have to go a long way to find a better vehicle.

The way he has incorporated the upgrades make the vehicle more drivable whilst retaining the original look of the vehicle until you open the bonnet.

No expense has been spared in the maintenance of this vehicle over the years.

A test drive is highly recommended.

What you see is what you get. 978 MVK retains much of its original bodywork - albeit with a few aged dings, scratches and marks. Please therefore do not expect absolutely pristine. However, you will have to go a long way to find a better vehicle.
