Land Rover Series 3 88" Hardtop Pastel Green Galvanised Chassis

SOLD

1983 Land Rover Series 3 88" Hardtop Pastel Green Galvanised Chassis

On offer is a lovely example of a Series 3 88".
It has had a number of owners since new of which a majority have owned the vehicle for long periods of time. The history file is complete with servicing, bills and old mot's. The vehicle also comes with it's original owners manual.

First Registered 14th March 1983 this lovely example is a late Series 3 complete with the later upgrades such as 11 inch front dual line brakes. 5 bearing crank engine. The vehicle has been subject to a sympathetic respray and all the galvanising has been re done.

It is in one of our favourite colour combinations Pastel Green with the Limestone Wheels.

To find an unmolested example has become very hard, but to find one that is in such good condition with all retaining original panels, engine, gearbox and interior is becoming very hard.

The vehicle has also benefited from a high quality galvanised chassis which will ensure the vehicle is around for another 30 plus years.

The bodywork on TSF is excellent and all the panels are straight with no dents or scraps.

The interior still retains the original style Deluxe front seat backs and bases. It was also important to us that we kept as many original parts of the vehicle, as this wasn’t intended to be a fully restoration but a preservation. New rear bench seats have been fitted. It still retains all it's original triplex glass in the windscreen. The dash is unmarked with no sun damage as so often is the case.

All windows open, all the window channels are good the vehicle has benefitted from new doors.

The load area is exceptionally clean and doesn't show any sights of heavy use and is presented with a rubber mat and the bench seats .

TSF 553Y has one of the best original engine bays we have seen on a Series 3, extremely clean with original stickers still in place. The block and head have been repainted in the correct colour.

The factory fitted engine busts into life on the turn of the key. It is apparent that this is a vehicle that has been maintained and covered a low mileage since restoration as it runs as quiet and smooth as any Series Land Rover that we have ever had. The free wheeling hubs are a real benefit and helps increase the miles per gallon.

A joy to drive and such fun, the vehicle will have a full 12-month MOT from the day of sale. Four wheel drive and low range engage, as they should. The gears change up and down as they should it has a very quiet gearbox which is a good sign of it's light use over the years. The vehicle will be supplied fully serviced including engine, filter, main gearbox, transfer box, diffs and swivels.

Almost all Series Land Rovers we have had drip a little oil, some quite a lot, TSF 553Y is the exception though no drips of oil to speak of even after standing for days in the same place. The steering is as it should be and the vehicle doesn't wonder on the road like some series vehicles do. All the tyres are matching and in new condition.
