Land Rover 90 Factory V8 Station Wagon

41,000 Miles From New

Rare opportunity to acquire one of the best and highly desirable early Land Rover 90 V8.

A Rare Opportunity to Acquire an Exceptionally Original, Unmolested & Very Desirable 1986 Land Rover 90 Short Wheel Base Genuine V8 Station Wagon.

Just 41,000 miles from new. Supplied new by Scottish Automobile Company which was a Land Rover dealer they kept the vehicle as a demonstrator for a few months. The vehicle is believed to be a export market V8 as it has never had cloth seats, decals on the sides. It is a genuine factory station wagon in Trident Green so a unusual specification but most certainly original. First registered 17th April 1986. The first keep Mrs M Faussett-Farquhar acquired the vehicle 24th June 1986. It then was passed onto here son Mr H Fausset-Farquhar. I so is a genuine 1 previous family owner. I acquired the vehicle last year off him. The vehicle until then had remaining in Scotland all it's life. Having been dry stored and off the road for a number of years. We did some light recommissioning to bring the vehicle back to a good standard.

There is original mot's dating back to 1990 when the mileage was 30,552 miles. Also original invoices.

Our recommissioning included only a few mechanical jobs, new fuel tank, servicing, brakes, new tyres etc. The vehicle required no bodywork or chassis/bulkhead repairs as the vehicle is in such good condition. The chassis and bulkhead have never been welded or repaired in any way. It is remarkable. The vehicle is even still in it's original paint.

It has had one family owner from new of who have owned the vehicle for 32 years.

Unique in such original condition and we think this is one of the lowest mileage best original un-restored 1986 factory V8 examples available.

Retaining all of its original panels and all of its original paint.

A very rare find indeed and one unlikely ever to be repeated - truly remarkable!

To find an unmolested example has become very hard, but to find one that has had just one family owner, only covered forty-one thousand miles, retains all of its original panels, its original chassis, engine, gearbox, interior and even all of its original factory paint finish well that's unheard of..............

BODYWORK

When we acquired C570 ASR with the exception of a light buff particularly to the plastic arches the bodywork was left well alone. Finished in Trident green the vehicle looks fabulous with alpine white wheels.

The body and paint finish is 100% original, and way above the average 33 year old Land Rover. However C570 ASR is not your average Land Rover, it is extraordinary.

It has benefited from a light polish and wax on all panels.

The wheels and roof are finished in Alpine white, which is factory correct for a 1986 Land Rover in Trident Green.

The rivets on the rear panels and the roof uprights were never finished in body colour when they left the factory this is how it remains on this vehicle.

The bulkhead is exceptionally solid and original, in fact as good as we have ever seen. With no repairs in sight or any that are required.

It retains it's original rear cross member which has never been welded. The underside has not been covered in under seal but preserved in new clean oil, you can still see the factory overspray under the wings and rear body this is exactly how they left the factory. No welding is required anywhere on this vehicle and it is ready to be enjoyed.

Originally from new C570 ASR had a spare wheel fitted to the rear door hence it never having a wheel mounted on the bonnet or in the back. The underside of the bonnet also shows original overspray and the support braces retain their original black finish.

There isn't even any awful touch up on the vehicle.

The hardtop roof is in excellent condition and has no dents or scratches and is still in it's original paint where you are able to see the original spot welds through the paint. The windows are also all original and stamped.

The vehicle still retains all it’s original Lucas headlights, CEP & LEP lenses for indicators, side lights and brake lights which is nice to see as these items are now obsolete.

INTERIOR

Exemplary - by far the best original Land Rover 90 V8 it still has it's original Land Rover fitted floor mats, even the original toolkit, jack and stand.

The original factory fitted front seats are in good condition, they have never been replaced and are the originals too the vehicle these are of much better quality than replacements that are now available. As are the rear bench seats.

There is even a 1986 newspaper which had been laid out on the rear floor to keep the moisture off when in storage. Truly remarkable.

Door cards to the front doors are original factory items and are complete and in great condition. Sun visors that are perfect and a perfect headlining and side panels.

Unique in such original condition and we think this is one of the lowest mileage best original un-restored 1986 examples available. Retaining all of its original panels and much of its original paint.

The dash is unmarked with no cracks or sun damage.

The vehicle is still fitted with a period Triumph Radio and Cassette player which was probably the original when the vehicle was supplied. All windows open, all the window runners and rubbers are good and because the vehicle has been kept under cover not rusted away as so often is the case.

Under the passenger seat the compartment contains the original jack.

The load area is exceptionally clean and doesn't show any sights of heavy use. There is no corrosion at all.

UNDER THE BONNET

One of the best original engine bays we have seen on a 90, extremely clean with original stickers still in place. The 3.5 litre V8 fits so well. Factory fitted inner mud shields unusually still both in place and are intact.

ON THE ROAD

The factory fitted engine busts into life on the turn of the key. It is apparent that this is a vehicle that has been maintained and covered low mileage it runs as quiet and smooth as any Series Land Rover that we have ever had.

A joy to drive and such fun, the vehicle will be supplied with a 12-month MOT with no advisories. Four wheel drive and low range and diff lock engage, as they should. The gears change up and down as they should it has a very quite gearbox which is a good sign of it's light use over the years.

Almost all Land Rovers we have had drip a little oil, some quite a lot, C570 ASR is the exception though no drips of oil to speak of even after standing for days in the same place.

The steering is as it should be and the vehicle doesn't wonder on the road like some series vehicles do.

All the tyres are 6.00x16 including the spare which were the original fitment when the vehicle was supplied new. They were all replaced as part of our recommissioning. In our opinion vehicles never look right unless they are on the right tyres.

SUMMARY

C570 ASR is an unmolested and original Factory Land Rover 90 V8 Station Wagon in immaculate original condition. All the numbers match - the chassis numbers on the plates are the same as on the log book registration document and that stamped on the chassis itself. The engine number also matches that recorded on the logbook.

This is one of the best low mileage and original untouched 90's we have ever had the opportunity to own.

This Land Rover has obviously been cared for and cherished by its previous owners.

It is very solid example that requires no work and is ready to use and enjoy.

It retains its original chassis, still displays the V.I.N clearly stamped on it by the factory.

If you are an investor you will already known the growing importance of original un-messed with condition for classic cars. You will also know that Land Rover never used galvanised chassis for production of Series or Defender vehicles - so one that's been fitted with one cannot by any stretch claim to be original and un-messed with. If you are an enthusiast then you will not be disappointed with this vehicle as it is perfect in almost ever detail and is exactly as it left the factory 33 years ago.

This is a very honest 33-year-old Land Rover.

What you see is what you get. C570 ASR retains much of its original paint finish - albeit with a few aged dings, scratches and marks. Please therefore do not expect absolutely pristine. However you will have to go a long way to find a better vehicle.

If you have been looking for the very best of the best when it comes to original condition un-restored Land Rover 90 V8 then this is the right vehicle for you as it's the more desirable short wheel base model which is a lot more practical easier to park, store, drive etc.

VALUE

Low mileage, history, condition, and originality will contribute greatly to the value of any classic. Anybody can restore a Land Rover to a certain standard however you can't make anymore-original low mileage vehicles and so for that reason these vehicles are becoming increasingly harder to find and so any opportunity to buy one shouldn't be missed.
