Land Rover Series 1 80" 1953 Model 65,000 Miles from New

A rare opportunity to acquire an exceptionally original and very desirable 1953 Land Rover Series 1 80" with a fantastic history.

First Registered 6th July 1953 the Land Rover was sold new to Mr. Joscelyne in 1953 at the time he was living in Northwich, Cheshire. The vehicle then moved with him to Bodorgan, Anglesey. After some 26 years of ownership the Land Rover then left the family in 1979 and was sold to an enthusiast, who was a friend of the family. The vehicle then moved to Harpenden, Hertfordshire. It remained there for 27 years. In 2006 Mr. Joscelyne's Grandson was fortunate enough to buy the vehicle back, he had some very found memories of the vehicle when he was younger and also more recently has had some great times with his own children growing up with the Landy.

To summarise the Land Rover has spent some 40 years of it's life in the Joscelyne family, which we think is brilliant and just shows how attached people get to these vehicles. 3 owners in 67 years is truly remarkable.

The vehicle has also covered a genuine mileage of 65,428 miles, which is warranted by all the mots some going as far back as 1974 when the vehicle was still in the first owners care.

Over the years NVU has benefitted from a few upgrades these include, the fitting of free wheeling hubs, a fairey overdrive, alternator conversion, aluminium fuel tank, retaining the original filler cap and sender unit. Indicators have been fitted very well, the original wings have been to professional panel beater so the convex profiles match the side lights.

The vehicle has recently had new BF Goodrich tyres, recently had a new canvas, seats, stainless steel exhaust, and rear springs from Jones bros, new rear shock absorbers, rear brakes, Lucas battery.

NVU is complete in its original form, engine, gearbox, chassis, running gear, body panels, hand starter handle, 2 ignition keys. Along with the 1953 optional extras -cab heater (just re-cored and repainted) and rear bench seats.

The original 2.0 L engine runs super smoothly.

It had an external respray in the 1980’s, all the galvanising and most of the internal paint is original.

It comes with the brown card log book which is in amazing condition, previous mots, invoices. There are also some pictures which are from very early on when NVU was new when it went on a family holiday to Easter Ardross, Inverness Shire.

As Land Rovers go, this one has had an easy life and has always been well cared by it's few previous owners.

The vehicle will be supplied with a 12 month MOT with no advisories. Although the vehicle is tax and mot exempt. The vehicle will be supplied fully serviced.

If you are an investor then you will already know how these vehicles have appreciated over the last 5 years some doubling in value.

This a very honest 67 year old Series Land Rover. What you see is what you get it looks and drives exactly as it should. You will have to go a long way to find a better and more honest vehicle.

Any questions please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss the vehicle.
